The Advisory Council for Cornell University's Long Island Horticultural Research & Extension Center (LIHREC) met on December 15, 2005 in Riverhead. The Advisory Council consists of representatives from each of the major commodity groups and constituencies with whom the Center interacts and serves. Members of the Council provide advice concerning research and extension programs at the LIHREC, as well as broad matters of policy and planning. The Advisory Council serves as a two-way communication device between the Director and the stakeholders and brings issues and concerns from the horticultural industry to the attention of the Director. The Council members act as advocates for the Research Lab and develop recommendations for long-term strategic planning. Members of the Council contribute their time to two- or four-year terms.
